At Moranbah Early Learning Centre, we are passionate about laying a strong foundation for every child’s educational journey. That’s why we’re thrilled to hear about the Queensland Government’s initiative to provide free kindergarten, starting in 2024.
This fantastic opportunity is available for 4-year-olds who are at least 4 years of age by June 30 in the year preceding their Prep attendance. Whether your child thrives in sessional or long day care settings, this free kindy program is designed to cater to their unique needs.
Key Features of the ‘Free Kindy’ Scheme:
- 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year.
- For children aged at least 4 years by June 30 before Prep.
- Attending a Government-approved program offering free kindy in sessional or long day care settings.
- Kindergarten program delivered by a qualified early childhood teacher.
Why is the government investing in free kindy?
Free access to kindergarten ensures that every child, regardless of background, has equal access and opportunity for a strong start in the early years of learning.
Will kindy be free for all families?
Absolutely! Starting January 1, 2024, kindy will be free for all eligible kindy-age children attending a government-approved free kindergarten program in either a sessional kindergarten or long day care service.
Our Kindergarten Program:
Our Kindergarten program has a focus on connecting with community, building resilience and self-confidence, developing problem solving skills & learning how to build friendships.
Kindergarten is such an exciting time for children — and so it should be. We support the kindergarten children to learn, discover and explore, as well as preparing them for a loving and exciting transition to school. You can learn more about our Kindergarten program here.
