There’s something truly special about a homemade card. It might not be perfect, but it’s full of love — and that’s what makes it perfect to Mum.

We love encouraging children to get crafty and express their feelings. So with Mother’s Day just around the corner, here are some easy and beautiful card ideas to make at home or in the classroom.

Handprint Bouquet Card

What you’ll need:
Coloured paper, paint or ink, glue, markers

How to do it:
Use your child’s painted handprint as the “flowers” and draw on some green stems and a ribbon to make it look like a bouquet. Add a sweet message inside like “I picked these just for you!”

Heart Pop-Up Card

What you’ll need:
Cardstock, scissors, glue, coloured paper

How to do it:
Fold a piece of cardstock in half. Cut out small paper hearts and fold each in half. Glue only one side of each heart onto the card, so they pop up when opened. It’s a lovely 3D surprise.

“All About Mum” Card

What you’ll need:
Paper, crayons or pencils

How to do it:
On the front, write “All About My Mum.” Inside, help your child fill in prompts like:

  • My mum’s name is…

  • She is really good at…

  • I love it when we…

  • She always says…

The answers are often funny and sweet — a card she’ll want to keep forever!

Nature-Inspired Card

What you’ll need:
Leaves, flowers (pressed or fresh), paper, glue

How to do it:
Go on a little nature walk and collect leaves or petals. Arrange them on the front of a card to make hearts, flowers, or a pretty pattern. It’s a great way to connect with nature and creativity.

No matter which design your child chooses, the real gift is the thought behind it. Add a cuddle and maybe a drawing of Mum and child together, and you’ve got a beautiful keepsake she’ll treasure for years.
