At Moranbah Early Learning, August is when we begin our warm and inclusive celebration of the important men and father figures in our children’s lives, with father figure appreciation activities designed to build special bonds and lasting memories.
Celebrating Every Kind of Family
We know families come in every shape and size, so our father figure appreciation activities are always framed broadly, celebrating dads, grandfathers, uncles, or any special person who plays that role in a child’s life. This inclusive approach:
– Ensures every child feels represented and included
– Helps children articulate who is important to them and why
– Builds fine motor skills through hands-on gift making
– Strengthens the connection between home and centre life
Our Father Figure Appreciation Program
Handprint Keepsakes
Children create handprint artworks that capture this exact moment in time, a treasured keepsake that families often keep for years to come.
Building Together Activities
We set up simple construction challenges with blocks and recycled materials, giving children stories and ideas to share with their special person about what they built and why.
A Card From the Heart
Using paint, stamps, and collage, children design their own cards, dictating a special message to an educator for those who are not yet writing independently.
Community Yarn Circle
Children sit together and talk about the special people in their lives, sharing stories and building oral language and confidence in front of their peers.
Continuing the Connection at Home
Families can build on our father figure appreciation activities at home with simple ideas such as a shared outdoor game, a special one-on-one breakfast, or a photo book of favourite memories the child helps to put together.
At Moranbah Early Learning, watching children light up as they talk about their special person is one of the most rewarding parts of our program, and we are proud to give every family a meaningful way to celebrate together this August.
